Cartoon Populi ("we", "us") is a small, non-commercial project. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what we need to run the platform.
What we collect
- Account information — your username, email address, and a hashed (not readable) version of your password.
- Submitted content — cartoons you upload, titles, descriptions, and tags.
- Activity — ratings and comments you leave on cartoons.
- Technical logs — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, page visited) for security and debugging. These are not stored permanently.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics.
- We do not sell or share your data with anyone.
- We do not store payment information (the platform is free).
How we use your data
- To operate your account and let you log in.
- To display your submitted cartoons in the gallery.
- To send you a transactional email when your cartoon is approved (if email is configured).
- To send a password reset link if you request one.
Social media sharing
If you checked the optional social media permission box when submitting a cartoon, we may share that cartoon on Cartoon Populi's social accounts with attribution to your username. You can contact us at any time to withdraw this permission for future posts.
Data retention
Your account and submitted content remain on the platform until you request deletion. To delete your account or remove a specific cartoon, contact us directly.
Security
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. We use JWT tokens for authentication. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure — please use a strong, unique password.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing us. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
